What is Merge PDF?
Merging PDFs is the process of combining two or more separate PDF documents into a single file, with the pages appearing in the order you specify. PDF, short for Portable Document Format, is a fixed-layout format designed to look identical on any device or printer, which makes it the standard for sharing finished documents such as reports, forms, invoices, and scans. Joining several such files into one is useful for assembling a multi-part report, combining scanned pages, or attaching a cover sheet before the main content. The merge copies each source's page content, including text, images, and vector graphics, into the new document while preserving the original page dimensions.
How to Use Merge PDF
- Drag two or more PDF files onto the drop zone, or click it to choose them.
- Each file's page count is shown in the list — use the up/down arrows to reorder files before merging.
- Click "Merge PDFs" to combine every page, in the order shown, into a single document — a preview appears below.
- Check the preview, then click "Download" to save the merged PDF.

Common Mistakes
- Uploading files in the wrong order and not checking the reorder list before merging — the final page order exactly matches the file list order shown.
- Assuming merged PDFs keep fillable form fields fully interactive — page content is preserved, but some interactive features may not survive the copy.
- Merging password-protected or encrypted PDFs — these need to be unlocked first, since the tool can't read pages it can't decrypt.
