About NewKitApp

Last updated: October 24, 2026

NewKitApp is a set of free PDF tools that run inside your web browser. You can merge, split, compress, convert, sign, watermark and protect PDF files without installing software and without uploading your documents to anyone.

Why we built it

Most of us handle PDFs that we would rather keep to ourselves: payslips, contracts, bank statements, medical letters, ID scans. The usual way to edit them online is to upload them to a stranger's server, wait, and download the result. You get the file back, but a copy has travelled somewhere you can't see.

We wanted the convenience of an online tool with the privacy of desktop software. Modern browsers can run serious programs, so we wrote tools that do the whole job on your device. The page downloads a small program; the program reads your file from your disk, changes it in memory, and hands you the new file. Nothing goes back to us.

How the tools work

The PDF engine is built on two open libraries that browsers have relied on for years:

  • pdf.js, the PDF engine inside Firefox, reads and draws pages. We use it for previews, text extraction and image conversion.
  • pdf-lib writes PDF files. We use it to merge, split, rotate, stamp, number, encrypt and edit documents.

On top of these we wrote the parts that make each tool useful: page-range parsing, image recompression for the compressor, a small typesetter for Markdown to PDF, colour conversion for grayscale, and the signature pad. Each tool page includes a guide that explains what happens to your file and where the limits are.

A couple of tools work differently: Web to PDF renders pages in a cloud browser run for NewKitApp, and the OCR tool loads its recognition engine from a public CDN. Neither ever handles a file from your device.

What we don't do

  • We don't receive, store or read your files.
  • We don't require an account, an email address or a payment.
  • We don't put watermarks on your output or cap the number of files you process.

You can check the first point yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and use any tool. You will see the page load its code, and no request carrying your document.

How the site is funded

The tools are free. The guides and blog articles show advertising served by Google AdSense, and those ads pay for the domain, hosting and development time. Ads never appear inside the tool area, and they never see your files. Our privacy policy explains what the ad network does collect.

The blog

We publish long guides on working with PDFs: how compression works, how to send documents safely, what an electronic signature proves, how to prepare files for printing and for application portals. Each article is written to answer a real question in full, with no filler.
