About PDF to CSV
PDF to CSV reads the text layer of a document, groups it into rows and columns the way the page looks, and hands you spreadsheet-ready CSV. Open it directly in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
It is made for reports and statements whose tables are real text. Scanned tables need OCR first.
How to use PDF to CSV
- Open your PDF.
- Click Convert to CSV.
- Check the preview, adjust if needed, then download the CSV.
Layout-aware columns
Column positions are inferred from where the text actually sits.
RFC-4180 escaping
Commas, quotes and line breaks inside cells survive the export.
Preview before download
Check the recovered table before committing.
What to expect
Rows are detected by baseline position and columns by clustered x-coordinates, which suits cleanly laid out tables. Merged cells, wrapped text and borderless designs can shift a value to a neighbouring column; the preview exists so you can spot it. For a plain dump of all text, PDF to Text is the better fit.
Tips for better results
- Numbers with thousands separators may need a find-and-replace in your spreadsheet.
- One table per page gives the cleanest result.
Questions and answers
Does it work on scanned tables?
Not directly. Run OCR PDF first so the table becomes real text.
Why is a value in the wrong column?
Wrapped or offset text confuses heuristics; move it in the spreadsheet, it is one cell.
