About Sign PDF
Sign PDF lets you add your handwritten signature to a document without printing and scanning. Draw it with your mouse, finger or stylus, type your name in a handwriting font, or upload a photo of your signature on paper. Then drag it into place on any page.
Use it for rental agreements, permission slips, offer letters, delivery notes, NDAs and the many forms that only need a visible signature. You can sign several places in one document, such as initials on every page and a full signature at the end.
Since the document stays on your device, you can sign contracts and personal forms without handing them to a third-party signing service.
How to use Sign PDF
- Open the PDF that needs your signature.
- Create your signature: draw it, type your name, or upload an image.
- Drag the signature to the right spot. Drag the corner handle to resize it.
- Use the page arrows and Add to page to sign more pages.

Electronic signatures and what they prove
This tool creates an electronic signature: a picture of your signature placed on the document. Laws such as the US ESIGN Act, the EU's eIDAS regulation and Indonesia's Electronic Information and Transactions Law recognize electronic signatures for most everyday agreements. What makes them binding is the intent to sign and the agreement of both parties, not the technology.
A certificate-based digital signature is a different thing. It uses cryptography and an identity certificate to prove who signed and that nobody changed the document afterwards. Some government filings, notarized documents and high-value contracts require it. This tool doesn't create certificate signatures. If the recipient asks for a "digital signature with certificate", use the service they specify.
For a cleaner result when drawing, use a stylus or your finger on a phone, and sign larger than you need. The tool crops the empty space and you can scale the signature down on the page. Blue ink helps a reader tell an original from a black-and-white photocopy.
After signing, consider running Flatten PDF with the whole page option if you want the signature merged into the page image. That makes it harder to lift the signature image out of the file.
Tips for better results
- Place the signature slightly above the signature line, the way you would on paper.
- Upload a photo of your signature taken on plain white paper in good light for the most natural look.
- Add the date with Watermark PDF or your PDF reader if the form requires it next to the signature.
- Keep an unsigned copy of the document in case you need to correct something.
Questions and answers
Is an electronic signature legally valid?
In most countries electronic signatures are valid for ordinary contracts and forms. Some documents, such as wills or property transfers, may require other forms. Check the rules for your document and country.
Is this a digital signature with a certificate?
No. It places an image of your signature on the page. It doesn't add a cryptographic certificate.
Do you store my signature?
No. The signature exists only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it.
Can I sign on my phone?
Yes. Draw with your finger in the signature box, then drag the signature into place.
Can someone else sign the same document?
Yes. Send them the signed PDF and they can add their signature with this tool too.
