Privacy policy

This policy explains what information NewKitApp ("we", "us") and our partners collect when you use newkitapp.com, and what choices you have. The short version: your documents never leave your device, and the data we and our partners do collect relates to how you use the website, not to the content of your files.

1. Your files

Every tool that opens a file runs in your web browser. When you choose a file, your browser reads it from your device and processes it in memory. The file, its contents, the passwords you type into the protect and unlock tools, and the signatures you draw are not sent to us or to any third party. When you close the tab, the data is gone from the browser's memory.

We have no server that accepts uploads, so we couldn't collect your documents even if we wanted to.

Two tools work differently, and neither ever touches your files. Web to PDF sends the page address you type to our rendering service (a Cloudflare Worker running a headless browser), which loads the page and streams the result back; it stores nothing between requests. The OCR tool downloads its recognition engine and language files from public CDNs (jsDelivr and tessdata.projectnaptha.com) the first time you use it; your document itself stays in the browser.

2. Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) receives standard technical data that every web server receives: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site and protect it against attacks, and keeps it for a limited time under its own privacy policy.

If analytics is enabled, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools people use. It collects pseudonymous data such as pages viewed, approximate location (country or city), device type and referring site. We enable IP anonymisation and don't send Google the names, contents or sizes of your files.

To catch bugs, the site can also report technical errors to Errly, an external error-monitoring service. When enabled, it sends error details and anonymised session recordings, with page text and anything you type masked by default. The recordings never include your documents, which never leave your browser.

3. Advertising

Advertising keeps the tools free. When ads are shown, they are served by Google AdSense on content pages, never inside the tool area. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to:

• show ads and measure how they perform
• limit how often you see the same ad
• personalise ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, where you have allowed this

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu. When advertising is enabled, visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message before any advertising cookies are set, and can change their choice at any time through the privacy settings link shown in that message.

4. Cookies

Our own site sets no cookies for the tools. We store a single preference in your browser's local storage: your choice of light or dark theme. Analytics and advertising partners set cookies as described above. See our cookie policy for a full list of categories and how to control them.

5. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on:

• legitimate interests for delivering and securing the website
• consent for analytics and advertising cookies, which you can withdraw at any time

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because we don't hold your files and don't run user accounts, we hold very little personal data about you. Requests about data held by Google can be made through Google's own tools. California residents: we don't sell personal information in exchange for money. Sharing data with advertising partners for personalised ads may count as "sharing" under the CCPA; you can opt out through Google Ads Settings or the consent options above.

7. Children

The site isn't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.

8. Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the home page for at least 30 days.
