About Combine PDF

Before
After

Combine PDF puts several PDF files together into one document you can send, print or archive as a single file. Drop in the files, put them in order, and download one PDF.

People search for "combine PDF" when they have a pile of separate files and one place to send them: a visa application portal that accepts a single upload, an insurance claim that wants receipts in one file, a teacher who asked for all homework pages together, or a client who should get one proposal instead of a zip of attachments.

The combiner runs inside your browser. Your files never reach a server, which matters when the stack includes passports, bank statements or medical letters.

How to use Combine PDF

  1. Click Choose PDF files and select every file you want to combine, or drag them onto the page.
  2. Put the files in the right order by dragging them or using the arrows.
  3. Drop in more files at any time with the Add more PDFs box.
  4. Click Merge PDFs to combine them.
  5. Download the combined PDF.

Preparing a combined PDF for an application

Application portals for visas, universities, jobs and grants often allow one upload per section, with a size cap between 2 and 10 MB. Plan the order first. Most reviewers expect a cover or form first, then identity documents, then supporting evidence in the order the instructions list them. Match that order and the reviewer finds each item where they expect it.

Check each source file before combining. Rotate sideways scans with Rotate PDF, remove blank pages with Delete PDF Pages, and unlock password-protected statements with Unlock PDF. Fixing pages inside the combined file works too, but it's easier on the small files.

After combining, look at the size. If the file is over the portal's limit, run it through Compress PDF on the Balanced setting. Scanned pages shrink the most. If you still exceed the limit, compress with the Strong setting or split the evidence into a second upload if the portal allows it.

Finish with Add Page Numbers when the instructions ask for numbered pages, and give the file a clear name such as Lastname-Firstname-Application.pdf. Reviewers download hundreds of files, and a descriptive name keeps yours from getting lost.

Tips for better results

  • Read the portal's instructions for order and size limits before you combine.
  • Combine first, compress second, so shared fonts and images aren't stored twice.
  • Keep originals of each document; the combined file is easy to rebuild if a requirement changes.
  • Use descriptive file names so the portal and the reviewer see what the PDF contains.

Questions and answers
