Compress PDF

Shrink PDF file size with Ghostscript-powered compression — keep the quality you need.

What is Compress PDF?

PDF compression reduces a PDF's file size by downsampling its images, subsetting embedded fonts, and stripping redundant objects — while keeping the text and layout readable. NewKitApp runs compression server-side with Ghostscript, the same industrial-strength engine publishers and print shops rely on, so it can shrink PDFs far more aggressively than browser-only tools, which can only re-save a file without ever touching the resolution of the images inside it.

How to Use Compress PDF

  1. Drag your PDF onto the dropzone, or click to choose a file.
  2. Pick a compression level — High compression for the smallest file (email/screen), Balanced for everyday use, or Best quality for near-original fidelity.
  3. Click Compress PDF. The file is processed on the server and a download link appears in a few seconds.
  4. Download the result right away — the link expires after about 10 minutes and the file is deleted immediately after processing.

Examples

Email-friendly résumé

Input: 8.4 MB scanned résumé

Output: ~1.1 MB at High compression — fits any inbox

Readable ebook chapter

Input: 6.0 MB chapter with photos

Output: ~1.8 MB at Balanced — text crisp, images lightly downsampled

Common Mistakes

  • Choosing High compression for a document you plan to print — the 72 dpi images look soft on paper. Use Balanced or Best quality instead.
  • Expecting big savings on text-only PDFs — with no images to downsample, the reduction is modest.
  • Forgetting the download link expires in about 10 minutes — save the file as soon as it's ready.

Why Use This Tool

  • Ghostscript-grade compression browser tools can't match — real image downsampling plus font subsetting.
  • Three clear presets tuned for email, everyday use, and high-fidelity output.
  • Text stays razor-sharp at every level; only images are affected.
  • Files are processed and deleted automatically — no permanent storage, no account required.
