Frequency Generator
Generate a continuous tone at a precise frequency with waveform and volume control.
¿Qué es Frequency Generator?
Frequency Generator produces a continuous, precise audio tone at any frequency from 1 Hz to 22,000 Hz using your browser's Web Audio API. Choose from sine, square, triangle, or sawtooth waveforms, control volume, and see the nearest musical note name in real time — ideal for instrument tuning, audio equipment testing, and hearing assessments.
Cómo usar Frequency Generator
- Type a precise frequency in the number input, or drag the logarithmic slider.
- Use the musical note quick-set buttons (A3, A4, C4…) to jump to standard reference pitches.
- Select a waveform: Sine for a pure tone, Square/Triangle/Sawtooth for richer harmonics.
- Adjust the volume slider before clicking Play.
- While playing, changing the frequency smoothly cross-fades to the new pitch without clicks.
Ejemplos
Instrument tuning
Entrada: 440 Hz (A4), sine wave
Salida: Standard concert pitch A — used to tune guitars, violins, and orchestras
Equipment test tone
Entrada: 1000 Hz sine wave
Salida: Industry-standard 1 kHz reference tone for calibrating mixers and amplifiers
Hearing test
Entrada: Sweep from 250 Hz to 16 kHz
Salida: Gradually raise frequency to find your personal upper-frequency hearing limit
Errores comunes
- Listening to high frequencies at high volume — always reduce volume before testing above 4 kHz to protect your hearing.
- Confusing Hz with MIDI note numbers — Hz is the physical frequency; MIDI numbers are an integer representation used in music software.
- Expecting perfect pitch match via laptop speakers — cheap speakers have narrow frequency responses and may not accurately reproduce very low or very high frequencies.
Por qué usar esta herramienta

- Musical note display provides instant musical context for any frequency.
- Smooth in-flight frequency transitions eliminate clicks when changing pitch while playing.
- Entirely browser-based — no plugins, no downloads, fully private.
